New! Two historic recordings of Denus McGee and Sady Courville, and The Balfa Brothers and Dewey Balfa and Friends
Description : Field Recorders Collective has just released two important recordings you will want to hear. First, in 1972 Denus McGee and Sady Courville performed in Washington D.C. for the National Folk Festival. On that occasion Morningstar producer Rich Nevins and engineer Charlie Faurot had the good fortune to record Denus and Sady in the basement of collector Joe Bussard's home in Frederick, Maryland. These are the first recordings McGee and Courville made since their sides for Vocalion in 1929! The Morningstar lp #16001 is long out of print, but Field Recorders Collective has now released the 12 songs from the original lp plus 16 songs never heard before. McGee and Courville are in fine form on this release! Special thanks to Jack Bond for his work bringing these recordings to the Collective!
Then there are recordings from the Brandywine Friends of Old Time Music festival of Dewey Balfa with family and friends! There are selections from a 1977 performance by brothers Rodney and Dewey Balfa, accompanied by fiddler Dick Richard and accordionist Allie Young. Tracy Schwarz joined in on fiddle for some workshop recordings. In 1983, after the death of his brothers Will and Rodney, Dewey returned to Brandywine with a group led by Rodney's son Tony on guitar and Robert Jardell on accordion. They were joined that day by steel guitarist Winnie Winston and bassist Jordan King. Great recordings!

Nouveau ! Deux enregistrements historiques de Denus McGee et Sady Courville, les frères Balfa, Dewey et les amis de Balfa.
Description : Enregistreurs de champ collectifs met à votre disposition deux enregistrements importants que vous pouvez entendre. D'abord, en 1972, celui que Denus McGee et Sady Courville ont exécuté au cours du festival folklorique national Washington D.C. A cette occasion le producteur Rich Nevins de Morningstar et l’ingénieur Charlie Faurot ont eu la bonne fortune d’enregistrer Denus et Sady dans le sous-sol et studio d'enregistrement de Joe Bussard, maison Frederick, dans le Maryland. Ce sont les premiers enregistrements McGee et Courville faits de leurs côtés pour Vocalion en 1929 ! La Morningstar lp #16001 est longue pour autoriser la copie, mais les Field Recorders Collective ont maintenant libéré les 12 chansons du lp original, plus 16 chansons jamais entendues auparavant.
